Training
Navigating the WebThe Training Committee has decided to try to get a team together to teach a class on Navigating the CSM Web. Also we are looking in to having Gateway teach some other classes this first semester.
Where are the Dreamweaver classes?Jennifer in Human Resources is still working on getting the Dreamweaver classes scheduled with Gateway.
The version of classes being taughtPlease refer to the policies section of the Staff Development Center website. http://www.is.mines.edu/training/policies.shtm. The instructors teaching the classes will know previous versions of the software if there are any major differences between the version being taught and the version on your computer.
Is anyone going to offer a seminar about how to raise money for various campus things?Jennifer in Human Resources is working with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement on a session to educate the campus on the fundraising activities of his office.
Practice presentationFirst of all thank you for teaching a class in the Staff Development Center! If you did not attend the training session to learn how to use the equipment in the room you may do so by calling or e-mailing HR at X3052 or mailto:hr-mail@is.mines.edu.
If you would like to practice your presentation please contact HR and they will schedule you in as time is available.
Can i schedule a meeting for the staff development center even if it doesn't need computers? Can i re-arrange the desks, etc. into a better format for meetings? If so, how do i do this? Thanks.
The Staff Development Center is intended for Staff Development, not meetings. To schedule the room for a training session please send an e-mail to mailto:SDC@is.mines.edu. The configuration of the desks should not be moved under any circumstances.
Is anyone going to offer a seminar about how to raise money for various campus things?Jennifer is currently working with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement on putting a session together about the Office of Institutional Advancement, which does a lot of fundraising for the school.
My department will not pay for classes for me but I'm willing to pay out of my own pocket. How do I do that?CSM strongly encourages departments to cover the very reasonable cost of the SDC Gateway training classes for their employees. The $100 per full-day class compares very favorably to the cost of comparable classes offered elsewhere, and the on-campus location avoids additional travel and parking costs. If a department determines that it will not pay, an employee can arrange to make personal payment with Jennifer Berger in Human Resources.
