Training Support
CSM strongly encourages
departments to pay their employees' class fees and provide employees with
release time to attend classes.
Enrollment
Enrollment is first come,
first served.
Wait List
Wait list is valid for
current class date only. Wait-listed applicants are not automatically
enrolled next time a class is offered. You must re-enroll for the next
class.
Dropping a Class
If you cannot attend a
class you are enrolled in, you can (a) send a substitute in your place, or
(b) drop the class. If you drop a class 3 or more days ahead of the
scheduled class date, you will not be charged.
Cancellation
The SDC can cancel any
class at any time. You will be notified by e-mail. If the SDC
cancels a class, you will not be charged.
Use of SDC Room
First priority is CSM staff
training. Other uses will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Gateway Class Retakes
Free retakes of any Gateway
offered class within one year are available at the SDC on a space-available
basis or at a Gateway facility.
Software Versions Supported
The Staff Development
Center has 11 new Gateway Computers (10 stations for students and 1 for the
instructor) which will be replaced each year. (Computers will be
sold to CSM departments at a discount in June.) In order to
simplify offerings, the SDC will support only the most recent versions of
software, and offer courses which teach those versions.
Special Software Requirements
The computers in the Staff
Development Center are configured with a set of software required by the
courses currently planned and as used in a "typical" administrative office.
Other software required for a special class will be installed by Information
Services. While the SDC is not a Computing Center facility,
Information Services will generally follow the
Software Installation Policy for Computing Center Labs in this activity.
In reading this policy, change CSMCC to Information Services, change "a
minimum of ten working days" to five (5) working days, and note that the
PC's in the SDC all have soundcards, speakers, and can have microphones.
